Stay overnight in Manila in your choice of standard studio or deluxe accommodation, and explore Makati and Old Manila on a half-day sightseeing tour. Meet your private guide in the morning or afternoon and receive an overview of Philippine history as you travel by air-conditioned vehicle to sites like Fort Santiago and the UNESCO-listed San Agustin Church. With an understanding of Manila’s colonial and modern-day culture under your belt, you can enjoy the flexibility of exploring at your own pace. This semi-independent experience includes breakfast and round-trip airport transfers.
Day 1: Manila
Start with pickup from Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport and transfer to your hotel, where you can relax in a standard studio or deluxe room, depending on your selection. Let your guide know whether you prefer a morning or afternoon departure for your half-day sightseeing tour.
After pickup from your hotel at your selected time, embark on a fully guided private tour by air-conditioned car, traveling first through the City of Makati, the country’s financial center and a part of metropolitan Manila.
Drive along Ayala Boulevard, stopping briefly at Nielson Tower, home to the Filipinas Heritage Library. Then continue past Forbes Park, an exclusive residential enclave dubbed ‘Millionaires’ Row,’ on your way to visit the American Cemetery and War Memorial to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of World War II.
Pass through Luneta (also called Rizal Park) en route to Old Manila via the scenic Roxas Boulevard. Upon arrival in the ancient fortified area of Intramuros, located in the city’s oldest district, get out to stroll along cobblestone paths. View city walls, church ruins and other relics of the Spanish conquistadors era, and discover intricate Baroque architectural designs inside the UNESCO World Heritage–listed San Agustin Church.
Finish at Fort Santiago, a Spanish fortress where Dr Jose Rizal, the country’s national hero, spent his last days in incarceration and wrote his famous poem ‘My Last Farewell.’ After hearing more commentary from your guide, you’re dropped off at your hotel.
If you selected the Y2 Residence Hotel upon booking, you’re just minutes away from the city’s Central Business District, world-class shopping destinations and vibrant nightspots. Make use of your fully equipped kitchen and dining area along with the well-stocked minibar in your standard studio.
Staying at the 5-star Fairmont means you’re within walking distance of the Ayala Museum and Greenbelt, the city’s most stylish shopping area. Select from several on-site dining options and enjoy premium amenities, including a mineral pool, outdoor swimming pool and signature Willow Stream Spa (treatments at own expense).
Overnight: single or shared accommodations at the Y2 Residence Hotel or Fairmont Makati in Makati
Day 2: Manila
If you have more time for sightseeing today, head out on your own to discover all that Manila has to offer. When it’s time to head back to the airport, check out of your hotel and enjoy a convenient transfer in time for your departing flight.
